THE TAILORESS - Cheryle Carter
I established my business, The Tailoress, in November 2004 in the Courtyard on Empire Street, Cambridge, situated in a building built during the 1920s, Central Court Hotel in its' heyday.
This reliable and useful business in Cambridge has been providing clothing alterations for men and womens' clothing and made-to-measure garments for women for eighteen years. As an experienced seamstress, I trained as a Tailoress and became disciplined in the art of fitting. The alteration quality is obtained by maintaining the original finish of a garment, fit, proportion and finish. Listening to a clients' needs, interpretation is key. The studio has a roomy fitting room with three mirrors for an all sided view.
Adding to the ambiance of the workroom studio, the walls are decorated with posters, a reminder of my association with the productions on stage at the Royal Opera House, London, 2001-2004.
In The Beginning.
I opened my own dressmaking and alterations business from home in Cambridge 1993-2000. Slowly it grew until the time came to seek an accountant, someone who could assist with guiding a small home-based business. I met Grant Calvert based at Shannon Wrigley & Co, now of course, Accounted4, where I am now a client of Jamie Fisher.
