It started with a dream and vision to create a destination art gallery and sculpture garden showcasing the best of Aotearoa Art and Design in our stunning rural location in Tamahere.
Seventeen years later Inspirit Studio & Gallery is now listed on Trip Advisor as one of the best art galleries to visit in the Waikato Region and often pops up on the top of the google search lists for must see galleries in Cambridge and Hamilton. This brings a wide variety of visitors from all over the country to our unique art gallery. International visitor numbers are growing steadily. Inspirit Gallery also attracts group visits all year round too.
Jenny Scown, the owner of Inspirit Gallery has had a successful career as a professional photographer for over thirty years working mainly in magazine and book publishing. She always wanted to build her own studio and gallery to exhibit outstanding New Zealand art and design and support local and national artists working in a wide variety of mediums. This spacious gallery features painting, printmaking, photography, ceramic, glass art, copper art, jewellery, textile art, indoor and outdoor sculpture and bespoke furniture. It is a distinctively New Zealand gallery.
Her passion for all things creative also led her to develop a sculpture garden alongside the gallery. The sculpture garden is now a significant part of this destination gallery and features work from some of the best sculptors in the country set amongst native trees and plants that attract a wide variety of native birds.
