IRD - Labour Weekend Shutdown for System Updates
IRD are updating their tax and social policy system updates over Labour weekend and during that time myIR, IRD phone services, including self-service options, and gateway services will not be available. We recommend filing your returns by Friday 25th October.
Shutdown dates
IRD will close for the full 3 days over the Labour weekend, from 5pm, Friday 25 October 2024.
Services are planned to re-open from 8am, Tuesday 29 October 2024.
IRD will advise when online services are available as it could possibly be ahead of the planned time. Please check the IRD website for updates.
Return filing
This shutdown period includes the 28 October GST due date. As 28 October falls on a public holiday, this due date is automatically the next business day, 29 October. We recommend filing any returns that are due over the temporary closure before 5pm, Friday 25 October where possible.
Drafts in myIR
As part of the update, IRD will not delete saved drafts in myIR. Saved drafts will remain and be available as normal after the shutdown.
Payments
Working for Families, Paid Parental Leave and Child Support payments will be paid on the usual day. The payment dates remain Tuesday 29th or Wednesday 30th October.
