XEROCON 2016
In September David, Martyn, Geoff and Jamie attended Xero's annual conference,which this year was held in Brisbane. This conference was a massive event held over two days with 2300 attendees from NZ, Australia, and Asia. The conference featured a wide range of presentations with some really interesting speakers. A major theme of the conference was the growing impact of technology changes affecting traditional business models. Rod Drury (Xero CEO) and a number of his team spoke, providing updates on how Xero is growing, and improvements that have been made recently and things coming soon.
A key product release they announced was "Xero HQ" which is an addition to Xero's Practice Management tool for accounting firms. To mix it up there was also a monk who discussed maximizing your energy stores and concentration, and there was a former Antarctica Station Leader who gave a very inspiring talk about leadership. There were also a number of breakout sessions where you could choose topics of most interest. Xero had a large hall set up with a huge number of Xero add-on partners exhibiting their services. Overall the conference was very well run and the guys got a lot out of it (and they even snuck in an evening trip to Suncorp Stadium to watch the Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast match).
